About Riviera Dreamer Tours

Riviera Dreamer Tours began over a decade ago. This is our story.

Caroline’s mother, Holly, first discovered Cinque Terre in 1978 while studying abroad in Florence. In 1982, she spent three months living among the locals in Monterosso, one of the five villages of Cinque Terre, forming relationships that have lasted a lifetime. As Caroline grew up, her family spent several summers in Cinque Terre, and it always felt like a second home to her. That connection eventually deepened when Caroline moved there permanently in 2014.

In 2012, Holly began bringing small groups to Cinque Terre to experience the magic of the five villages she had discovered long before mass tourism arrived. This marked the beginning of her company, Cimino Tours. A few years later, Caroline joined her as a host, and together they spent the next decade welcoming travelers as a mother and daughter team, leading immersive small group tours rooted in connection and authenticity.

In 2025, this journey evolved into Riviera Dreamer Tours, carrying forward the heart of Cimino Tours while introducing new relationships, perspectives, and adventures. Today, Caroline and her husband, Steven, are your local hosts, leading guests through Cinque Terre with the kind of insight that makes visitors feel like they truly belong. Holly still joins Caroline for one special tour each September.

With Caroline’s deep roots in Cinque Terre, over a decade of local knowledge, Italian language skills, and lasting friendships paired with Steven’s fresh perspective and natural curiosity, Riviera Dreamer Tours offers experiences that go far beyond the guidebooks. Holly’s connection to Cinque Terre dates back to a time before tourism shaped the region, giving her a rare and intimate understanding of village life on the riviera.     SEPTEMBER 2025

    We spent seven unforgettable days in Cinque Terre this September with Caroline and Steven. It truly felt like a bucket-list experience come to life. From the thoughtful gift bag at the train station to discovering hidden gems only locals know, every moment was extraordinary.

    Our group of like-minded adventurers became instant friends with many laughs. We jumped off a boat into the sparkling Ligurian Sea. We hiked breathtaking seaside trails, biked through sunlit villages connected by tunnels, and explored centuries-old churches. We dined at the most authentic local restaurants and learned where to find the best gelato.

    JUNE 2025

    The Cinque Terre tour in June 2025 was absolutely unforgettable. The complete experience was so amazing;  strolling an open air market, wine tasting at a vineyard, private boat tour of the Ligurian coastline, pasta class at a villa, and a pesto class on a mountain side hardly covers the total adventure.

    Our hosts Caroline and Steven were so very attentive, and with their expertise created a full experience every day…away from the typical tourist crowds and attractions.

    I was totally immersed in the culture of Cinque Terre in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was truly just like touring with old friends. This is the most scenic and beautiful part of the world that I've ever experienced. The vistas, seascapes and landscapes are all so very breathtaking. Thank you for a great memory.

    We loved the selection and pace of the activities. The intimate boat ride, winery tour, cooking school and epic meal that followed.

    The choice of restaurants was outstanding and it took the mystery out of trying to find a place. The meal in Vernazza on the balcony overlooking the sea was excellent and will be a lasting memory.

    I loved the ‘person-to-person’ feel. There is no other tour we could go on that we could mix with the locals and feel like one of them. Overall, this was an incredible experience and we have recommended your tour to several people.

    This tour provided a tremendous week of varied experiences suited to interests appealing to all for our family group that included three generations.

    Our time in the Cinque Terre was significantly enhanced by the passion the hosts have for this region coupled with their language fluency and deep knowledge of unique providers and activities that a tourist would be unaware of.

    This was exactly how we wanted to experience Europe for the first time. The hikes were our favorite part. The hotel was perfect. All of the meals you arranged were great. We all left with wonderful memories and a greater appreciation of the culture!

    Our group tour of Cinque Terre with Caroline and Steven was truly incredible. I wanted to take my mom to Italy for her first time in Europe, and when Caroline appeared in my TikTok feed it felt meant to be! I liked the idea of a group trip with a planned itinerary but had a few "what-ifs".  We signed up with an open mind, but the trip exceeded any expectation in so many ways. 

    Caroline and Steven were the best hosts with thoughtfully planned days, and plan Bs as needed.  I couldn't have planned the same trip that would maximize the Cinque Terre region like they did, especially considering the train and sea logistics. We had an amazing group -- people I'd consider life-long friends. My mom had the best time as well, it was truly the trip of a lifetime!

    Our Riviera Dreamer Cinque Terre tour exceeded expectations! Caroline and Steven provided a picturesque, well-curated exploration of an area of Italy they both love deeply.

    The small group size was exactly what we were looking for. Every restaurant, every bite was a food-lovers' dream! They taught us the train system, which was extremely helpful on our travels throughout the rest of Italy! We not only visited the small towns across the Cinque Terre, we hiked Vernazza to Corniglia at sunset, had a private boat tour of the towns with a delicious lunch and a swim in that spectacularly blue water! There was a bike tour visiting several small towns, a cooking class on a small mountaintop farm, a ferry ride to an ancient port town... all of this, and we still had time to explore La Spezia on our own, and re-visit some of the towns. We went to bed every night reeling with joy, and awaiting the next day's adventure! Kudos to Caroline and Steven, who made this leg of our Italian journey incredibly special!
